What does a man typically think his partner is asking for when she says she can’t feel him?
He thinks she wants better communication. More quality time. More effort. More grand gestures demonstrating his love. And what she’s really asking for is presence. Sensitivity to what she is actually asking for in each moment. The ability to be fully in the body, not in the head. Not thinking about the past or projecting into the future. Being fully in the body in the now moment.
This is what she’s asking for. And it’s generally something most men have never been taught how to give. Not because he doesn’t want to be more present. Not because he doesn’t want his partner to feel his love. It’s just that he doesn’t actually know how to be in his body, because he was never taught.
The gap between what he thinks she needs and what she actually needs is where most relationships slowly die.
Men have been conditioned to do, to take action, to provide, to create stability. Through all of that, there’s an accumulation of old emotions that were never allowed to be processed. That creates the armour. And the armour creates desensitization. And underneath all of it is a quiet fear…
“If I allow myself to feel, there might be an emotional tsunami that washes over me and it’s going to be too much.”
That’s the story I have heard from many men. It’s a story that keeps him numb. And she feels it.
A woman’s nervous system is far more sensitive to a man’s presence or absence than his is. She feels it before he does. He can’t pretend presence. He’s either truly in his body, fully in the now moment, or he’s not. And his woman will feel that.
When a man is living in his head, his partner feels alone in the relationship, even if he’s physically in the room. She knows he’s not actually there. He’s thinking about the past or worrying about the future.
The feminine is designed to open in the presence of a regulated, embodied man. And I can attest to what that feels like…
To be truly present with your woman… all other tabs closed, and to feel her feel you. It’s like a flower opening. It’s so delicate and so exquisite to feel that softening and opening of the feminine. And that can only happen if he’s fully present. Otherwise she won’t feel safe. She just won’t feel safe to open the way that is possible.
Most couples don’t know what’s possible because there has been so much performance in society. What he experiences as trying, she experiences as performance. And her nervous system knows the difference. This isn’t about blame. It’s about how polarity and nervous system attunement actually work.
I came into my relationship with Sasha already quite open and re-sensitized after years of work and a genuine desire to be a better lover. This was a big reason why I stopped watching porn in 2012 and started practicing sexual kung fu and semen retention. I wanted to experience more pleasure and provide more pleasure to my partner. This allowed me to develop a real relationship with my body and begin the process of dropping and releasing the armour. The more I practiced being in my body, the more tension naturally released. As a result, my sensitivity to subtle energy increased.
When Sasha and I came together, I was living in Costa Rica, immersed in nature, in the feminine flow, in ecstatic dance and cacao ceremonies and healing… living in a completely different world than back here in Canada. It was less about doing and more about being. When Sasha and I came together, there was just so much presence and attunement because of the work we had both done already as well as the blessing of the environment that supported the work. It was also quite obvious that we were meant to work together as the connection and energy between us was effortless and activating from the beginning.
With past partners I noticed, when I would come into presence and attunement, I would simply breathe rhythmically with them. And with that there was a natural calming in the nervous system, an attunement that just invited the woman to relax deeper. That’s one example. But really what it comes down to is… the more I was able to feel myself (as I re-sensitized and dropped the armour), the more I was able to feel my woman. And that really is it.
Both Systema and my beloved Russian wife Sasha have taught me to slow down more than anything else. Both trained me to slow down in order to increase my sensitivity. In Systema, slow work develops smooth efficient movement and overall freedom in the martial arts application. With Sasha, she has trained me to go even slower in lovemaking because of how sensitive she is. And that has brought in a whole new layer I hadn’t experienced prior to Sasha. Because of how much we have both released, how much we have both re-sensitized, what we experience together just doesn’t compare to anything I have experienced prior in my lovemaking.
Speed is a manifestation of fear. The moment you slow down enough to feel it, the fear begins to move. Slower is always deeper.
And the more sensitive I became, the more I was able to penetrate Sasha energetically.
‘Where your attention goes, energy flows.’
I can literally bring my awareness to the tip of my finger and be able to slowly penetrate her energetically. Not physically pushing. Just energetically present. This is something that needs to be felt and experienced although it requires a certain level of re-sensitization. It requires work.
The truth is most people are experiencing a fraction… maybe one to ten percent… of the amount of pleasure that is actually available in the human experience when two people truly drop the armour, re-sensitize and deeply attune to each other. Most people cannot even fathom the level of pleasure that is available. What is even more exciting is whats possible when you learn how to direct that sexual energy through intentional practice.
‘The work’ can be quite pleasurable.
This is a big part of why Sasha and I are so passionate about bringing this forward.
The inner work is hard. Let’s be real. It takes a lot of self-care, compassion, patience, and determination. And it’s not to be done alone. We’re working through generations upon generations of trauma from our lives, our families, our lineage. When we consciously make love and work with that sexual energy, it liberates those issues in the tissues… that stuck energy in the body. And it increases our capacity for more pleasure, for more healing, for more connection. The potential is limitless. It’s just that most people have so many layers upon layers of conditioning that have made it very difficult to access this level of connection and pleasure.
What does a woman actually need from a man, and why is presence the answer to almost everything she’s asking for?
She doesn’t need him to be perfect. She just needs him to be present. And that takes work. That takes consistent daily action. That takes creating certain boundaries with oneself around what you’re allowing into your awareness and where you’re choosing to place your attention. This takes consciousness.
Her criticism, her emotional reactions, her pulling away… these are often not attacks. They’re bids for his presence, his attention.
When a man can meet a woman’s emotional expression with a regulated, grounded nervous system rather than shutting down or reacting… everything changes. The feminine will always test a man’s ability to hold that tension, to remain open. Sasha has tested me from the beginning. I don’t think she does it consciously. It’s her inner feminine and her inner masculine asking… can you really hold me? Can you truly be here with me?
The feminine thrives in the presence of a man who knows himself. Not a man who performs knowing himself. She knows the difference. She will continuously challenge. And that challenge is actually an invitation… to become the man who can hold her fully.
How you do one thing is how you do everything.
How you make love is how you live.
The quality of presence a man brings to intimacy is the quality of presence he brings to everything else in his life.
She’s likely been asking for years. In different ways. With different words. Perhaps across different relationships. And if a man hasn’t learned how to cultivate presence, he’s probably heard it from most of the serious partners in his life. It may even be the reason some of those relationships ended. The man was simply not willing to meet himself as deep as the woman wanted to be met.
He’s been trying. In different ways, with different approaches. And it keeps not being enough. Not because he isn’t enough. Because he’s trying to solve it from the same level of consciousness. He’s trying to fix the relationship, trying to perform, do more… when she’s simply asking him to be more. To be more present. To be more attuned to her.
If he’s not able to do that, there’s a slow erosion of intimacy, passion, and connection. That’s what happens when a man remains unavailable even while physically present.
What does it cost her to keep reaching for a man who is there but not there?
It doesn’t allow her to access her full radiance. She can’t be fully in her feminine the way she wants to be, because she doesn’t feel safe, because her man isn’t fully embodied.
The moment she stops reaching is a danger zone. If she’s not saying anything, she’s either accepted the situation and is quietly unfulfilled, or she knows there are men out there who have done deeper work and can meet her where her man cannot.
And if there are children… those children are growing up watching a father who is physically present but not felt. What does that teach them about love and connection?
This work isn’t couples therapy. It’s a man doing his own work so deeply that his relationship transforms as a result.
The men who come through the Threshold Immersions and The Embodied Man don’t just feel better. Their partners feel the difference without being told anything has changed.
When a man truly occupies his body, it is felt in every single relationship.
Since doing this work, Sasha has never questioned my love. She knows I’m truly doing the best I can. I have cultivated enough presence to know that I’m generally not leaking energy thinking about the past, regretting or worrying about the future. I’m a regulated man. It doesn’t matter how much money is in the bank account, or how healthy or strong a man is. If he’s not cultivating presence, his nervous system could still be in survival mode. He’s still putting out a signal of unease that isn’t easy to relax into. It’s hard to be present and attuned and relaxed when your sympathetic nervous system is active.
This work doesn’t just change you. It changes what’s possible between you and her.
And it always begins within. It’s all an inside job. It always begins by being attuned to what your own body is telling you. It starts by asking yourself…
What emotions are alive?
Where am I holding tension in my body? That’s where it starts.
Today is my birthday. And in the spirit of generosity, I’m opening something for the men who are ready.
I am building The Embodied Man… a dojo, not a course. A place where men prepare for the arena of life. Where they practice the art of peace, drop the mask, become fully present in the driver’s seat of their own lives, and stop performing for a world that has never asked them to be whole.
Founding 1:1 Sessions (7–10 spots only)
I am opening a small number of direct 1:1 sessions for men at a threshold point who want to experience The Embodied Man work in real time… not as content, but as direct transmission and refinement.
Sliding scale is available for this founding round.
👉 Reserve your session here: [Calendly Link]
These spaces close at the end of the week or when filled.
If this is not your entry point, you are welcome to join the weekly Live Embodied Man sessions where I draw from a 52-card embodiment system I’ve developed over years working with men. Each session becomes a live practice and transmission.
