The Five Areas Men Hold Their Fear

The body doesn't forget. It just waits.

Right now, without changing anything… just notice… where are you holding tension in your body?

Your jaw. Is it clenched, even slightly? Your shoulders. Are they up around your ears, or pulled forward? Your stomach. Is it soft, or has it been braced for something for so long you forgot it was braced at all?

Most men carry tension like this every single day and have lived with it for so long that it has become the norm. The truth is, most men have no awareness of it until it becomes painful enough, or they don’t acknowledge it until it limits their ability to perform.

Once we become aware of something, we can actually do something about it.

In my last three transmissions, we’ve talked about the armour. We’ve talked about what becomes possible when it comes off. We’ve talked about the boy who put it on and the man who’s ready to become something else.

Now it’s time to actually go in.

Tension isn’t random. It isn’t just “stress.”

Every place in your body that holds tightness, numbness, or pain is holding something… an emotion that never finished moving through, an experience your nervous system wasn’t safe to feel at the time.

The body doesn't forget. It just waits. And it never stops speaking to us. It begins with a whisper showing up as tension, tightness, restriction in breath and movement. Eventually, if we continue to not listen, it will scream. That scream manifests as illness, disease, or injury.

I want to share something with you that changed the trajectory of my own healing journey. Early on, I came across a book called ‘Messages from the Body.’ It maps out the psychosomatic reasons behind different pains, injuries, diseases and patterns in the body. This gave me a lot of insight into why the left side of my body has taken so much wear and tear over the years.

A cauliflower ear. A scar above my left eye. My left shoulder, my left elbow, my left knee. At the time I accepted it as the nature of the sport (primarily aggressive martial arts). And when I started asking what these injuries were pointing to, I found something I wasn’t expecting.

October 2010. Just received my Muay Thai blue shorts under Siam No. 1 in Toronto

The left side of the body is associated with the feminine principle… receiving, feeling, the inner world. For most of my life, that side of me wasn’t being acknowledged. I was masculine on the outside… driven, disciplined, hard… but I hadn’t built any relationship with my own inner feminine. So when life came at me, it came in hard on the side I hadn’t learned to protect. Not because I was weak there. Because I’d never been taught it mattered.

When I committed to having a more loving relationship with my body and referencing this book and learning about psychosomatics, something shifted. I started getting instant feedback. I’d notice tension somewhere, or an old injury would flare up, and instead of just pushing through it like I had in the past, something in me got curious. The part of me that wanted to understand. I started asking: what is this telling me? What is this connected to?

Much like working with the Universal Laws, this knowledge helped me continue to anchor my awareness into the present moment and develop an actual relationship with my body instead of just living in it. The more I did that, the more responsibility I was able to take for my human experience. My body started healing faster, because I wasn’t just managing symptoms anymore… I was listening to what they were pointing to.

This is what I want to offer you here. Not theory. A practice that will change your life… if you’re ready to listen.

I’ve created a somatic experience where I’ll guide you through six places where men carry fear, grief, and unfelt emotions. These are places I’ve come to know intimately in my own body, and I’ve supported many men over the years in developing the same awareness.

Take Chris… a professional wrestler who, despite his successful career, couldn’t do a proper squat due to the tension held in his hips. Within three months of embodiment work together, he was able to do a full squat. Without the deeper understanding of the stuck emotion in that area, we likely wouldn’t have gotten there.

We’re going to move through six places, one at a time. Jaw. Throat. Shoulders. Chest and upper back. Gut and lower back. Hips, pelvis, and spine.

This isn’t a meditation. You’re not here to relax. You’re here to feel… to hold space for your body to reveal its somatic secrets.

You’ll need about 25 to 30 minutes, somewhere quiet, where you can sit or lie down undisturbed. Don’t do this while driving, or while you need to be focused on anything else.

What happens next is for the men who are ready to go further than insight. If you’ve made it this far, some part of you already knows you are.
